This Year's Project: Feed the Masses
About Our Organization
Community Food Pantry started in 1972 by a pastor at St. John's Lutheran Church helping families in need. The need became more so we started an official pantry in 1980. The name was changed from St. John Food Pantry to Community Food Pantry in 1997. We now have 25 churches that bring in food and monetary gifts throughout the year. Community Food Pantry is open every Monday - Thursday from 9 am to 4 pm and the last Tuesday afternoon from 1-4pm. We have 20 board members represented from different churches and 65 plus volunteers every month, which include the interviewers, sackers, runners and people who sort and date the food.
Current Project: Feed the Masses
Community Food Pantry is solely supported by donations of food, time and monetary gifts. We provide food to over 5000 people per year. Persons are able to use the pantry services once every 30 days. Donations will be used to purchase perishable items and or other needed items that are out of stock. Some of the items we are always in need of are: peanutbutter, jelly, pancake flour, pancake syrup, dish and laundry detergent, bars of soap, shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrushes, all fruits, hamburger, chicken and tuna helper, sugar and flour, mayo, oil, saltine crackers, graham crackers and healthy kid snacks.
