This Year's Project: Scholarships, backpack program

About Our Organization

For more than 100 years, the VFW Auxiliary has been fulfilling its original objectives by supporting the Veterans of Foreign Wars, serving veterans, service members and their families, and spreading patriotism nationwide. Our members have volunteered millions of hours, donated millions of dollars and honored hundreds of thousands of veterans. Volunteer with us and celebrate the freedoms we enjoy in America.

Current Project: Scholarships, backpack program

We award scholarships to 2 deserving seniors.  We also participate in the backpack program for needy children in the grade schools.

Scholarships: Graduating seniors, 6th-8th grade Patriots Pen essay winners, 9th-12th Voice of Democracy essay winners, 9th-12th grade Patriotic Art winners, and the winner of the Red, White, and Blue, a singing contest. Each year two deserving seniors receive a scholarship. Patriots Pen is an essay contest and this year the topic is "My Pledge to Our Veterans". "Why is the Veteran Important" is the topic for a written and oral presentation by anyone in high school. The other two contests are the Patriotic Art and the Red, White, and Blue. K-12th grade students may present their solo singing the "Star Spangled Banner". Winners of any of these contests receive money from our Auxiliary #1077. Any donation will be greatly appreciated, which will help us to continue to offer these scholarships.
