Cardiochek machine and operational support

FHSI is raising money this year to purchase a Cardiocheck machine for our satellite clinics that serve Beatrice. This machine tests cholesterol and blood glucose with a simple finger stick blood sample.  Screening blood pressure, cholesterol levels and blood sugar levels are important aspects of a thorough preventative health exam.  Early detection of hypertension (high blood pressure), hyperlipidemia (high cholesterol), and diabetes (high blood sugar) is important for preventing adverse outcomes such heart disease, heart attack, stroke, kidney failure, blindness and many other complications of these conditions. Heart disease alone is the number one cause of death in the U.S.  At FHSI we don't just focus on family planning services, but want to provide an important screening service for our clients to encourage good health and prevent disease. 

We would use any additional money raised this year for operational support of our outreach program.  We desire to incease our outreach efforts to reach new clientele in Gage county. We serve adolescents and adults up to age 64, but reaching the different age groups regarding our services can be a challenge. We have found marketing methods to have changed significantly with the advent of social media. Youth don't read a newspaper, listen to the radio or watch TV like older clientele.  We are developing more social media marketing to reach the adolescents and young adults in the area.
