This Year's Project: ASSISTING YOUTH TO FINANCE COLLEGE
TeamMates is an organization founded by Dr. Tom and Nancy Osborne in 1991. TeamMates matches caring adults with youth in grades 3 - 12 from the Beatrice Public Schools. The mentor/mentee pair spends up to one class period together each week at the child's school throughout the school year. The goal of this program is to see youth graduate from high school and pursue post-secondary education.
Current Project: ASSISTING YOUTH TO FINANCE COLLEGE
TeamMates youth often are heard saying "I will never be able to afford to go to college." This is why the scholarship component is so important. If a youth has been a TeamMate for a minimum of two years and graduates from high school, he or she will receive $250 per semester. This year we have 3 mentees that are seniors. Along with receiving a scholarship from TeamMates of Beatrice, TeamMates mentees have access to TeamMates Central Office Scholarships and our post-secondary institution scholarships. This is often the incentive needed to encourage youth to take that next step.
