About Our Organization
Established in January 2001, WCDT is a weekly ministry serving a free meal to those in need from 5:30 to 6:30 pm every Tuesday at Christ Church Episcopal parish hall. A meal can be picked up by way of take out or you can come inside to eat and socialize. The church doors open at 5:00 and meals are served at 5:30. Whether in come inside to eat or pick up a meal by take out, we enjoy socializing and providing assistance and prayers as requested.
Community organizations sign up providing and serving the meal. Some organizations serve 6 times a year and others may serve one, but most like to serve twice a year. Our average weekly servings are 110-120 meals. All organizations are asked to make food for 120 servings. Some weeks we serve 130 to 145 meals and that's why we purchase extra food in case we run out.
We are a non profit organization and all our funds are provided through private donations. The money is used to purchase paper plates (divided and plain), foam cups, soup bowls and lids, plastic silverware, take out containers (divided and plain), napkins, coffee, tea, lemonade, individual margarine cups, liners for the rosters, crackers, plastic baggies, individual servings of mac/cheese, fruit cups, pudding, and cookies.
