About Our Organization

The historical Barneston Community Gym has been a staple of Southeast Nebraska & Gage County for many years. To this day it is still loved and used by many local community members and people from afar! The Barneston Community Center Foundation works hard to maintain the gym, make improvements & provide a wonderful place for people to enjoy.

Current Project: Main Entrance Remodel & Gym Floor Re-Surfacing

The Barneston Gym is busier than ever! Community events, family reunions & birthdays, volleyball & basketball leagues and more, fill the gym week to week. And with the end of summer quickly approaching, the BCCF Board readies to enter their busy Fall/Winter season. This year's Big Give project will focus on raising funds for a handful of improvements that will provide a safe and functional gym for the jam-packed Fall/Winter season.

The BCCF Board plans to give the main entrance a much needed facelift! The current entrance is dark and dingy, is less than functional due to poor door set-up and is very difficult for mulitple people to access at one time. A new entrance would be a welcomed sight to guests when they first arrive to the Barneston Gym. Visitor safety for entering and exiting and ADA Compliance will be top of mind when designing the new entrance.

Part two of this year's project - the gym floor. Due to expected wear and tear, it has come time to re-surface the gym floor (court). Cracks are starting to appear and the floor has lost it's "grip" - making it a potential hazard to visitors competing on the court.

Project Details
BCCF board members are working hard to keep the Barneston Community Center open and running. The building has projects that truly need to be completed in the near future. At the top of that list is the bathroom addition out the north entrance.

Current bathroom facilities are located in the basement, forcing visitors to use old stairs to access. The bathrooms are outdated and struggle to work on a daily basis. Large events and seasonal league events hosted at the gym are constantly turning into a plumbing issue. Unfortunately due to the age of the facilities any repairs are short-lived.

The NEW BATHROOM ADDITION will be located on the north side of the gym.

Donations raised through BIG GIVE GAGE will be used to complete the project.
