Current Project: Mosaic Sensory Room

Mosaic provides services to people who would greatly benefit from a safe place to relax and learn in as that is typcially the the best enviroment for them to feel their best. A sensory room is designed to accommodate stimulating more than one sense. The room usually contains products for tactile needs, auditory needs, visual needs, vestibular/motor skill needs, and more.

Some examples include a sound machine, sensory lighting, ball chairs, tactile manipulatives, and weighted blankets. All of these are designed to appeal to different senses and can help people regulate their sensory input. Sensory rooms are a form of accomdation to make spaces more accessible to those with sensory processing problems. They give a space to decompress and confront a variety of sensory issues in a way that will ultimately help them cope.

The benefit of having a sensory room will also help those with sensory issues learn how to self-regulate their behaviors and senses. A safe, secure place gives them a place to decompress before they re-join activities, increasing their ability to socialize and reducing behavioral disruptions that can be physically harmful.

Mosaic would be so thankful for your donation to our sensory room as we would use it to buy supplies for the room, as well as demo a room to make it safe for the people who would use it the most.

Past Projects

  • Independence Matters

    Project Details

"Independence" means different things to different people, but it's an important part of most of our lives.

At Mosaic, we empower people with intellectual and developmental disabilities to live independent, full lives. One of the ways we do this is by altering our physical campus so that people of all abilities can access different parts of our buildings. This year we will work to raise funds to purchase and install an overhead lift that will allow more of the people we support to access a whirlpool tub in our Physical Dvelopment Center. Currently, a manual lift is not able to get close enough to the tub for many people using a wheelchair to trasfer safely. Proper lifting equipment not only helps us protect the safety and dignity of people we support, but it also protects the safety of the support professionals who serve them.

A lift costs $15,000, so our goal through Big Give Gage is to raise at least $5,000. Gifts given through Big Give Gage on Sept. 10 will be impactful as we work to make our whirlpool tub fully accessible.

What is the need? An overhead lift
    What is the cost? $15,000
How will Mosaic complete the project if today's goal is only $5,000?
The funds raised today will be combined with other resources and used as matching funds for grant applications, making your gift today even more impactful. Raising $15,000 during the Big Give would be okay with us, too!

Thank you in advance for supporting Mosaic.

One of the ways we do this is by altering our physical campus so that people of all abilities are able to access different parts of our buildlings. This year, we would like to focus those alterations on making our Chapel more accessible.

    • What is the need? An automatic door switch on Chapel doors to continue to make our campus accessible to all.

    • What is the cost? $8,000

"Independence" means different things to different people, but it's an important part of most of our lives.

At Mosaic, we empower people with intellectual and developmental disabilities to live independent, full lives. One of the ways we do this is by providing transportation for people on the campus to get to and from work and lunch, both important outlets.

    • What is the need? As more of the people we support age and the need for transportation on the campus grows, we need your help to continue providing this important service. We currently have one 12-passenger vehicle. Our goal this year is to raise money to purchase a second, so we can keep 24 people on the move.
    • What is the cost? A new 12-passenger vehicle costs $13,000.

How will we purchase the vehicle if today's goal is only $5,000?

The funds raised today will be combined with other resources and used as matching funds for grant applications, making your gift today even more impactful. Raising $13,000 on Big Give Gage would be okay with us, too!

Thank you in advance for supporting Mosaic.
